To Manage and motivate a team of diverse individuals with a variety of different skill sets and roles to achieve high standards, efficiencies in order to receive great customer feedback?

Field Studies Council (FSC) is an environmental education charity providing informative and enjoyable opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to discover, explore, and understand the environment.

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Manager to provide the day to day management of our Centre in Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria.

Castle Head offers a range of school trips, courses, field trips (virtual and residential) along with adventure and other activities for all ages. This post offers the opportunity of full residency.

The role

Our Centre Managers provide a key operational and leadership role, working closely with the Head of Group and Group Operations Manager to ensure the efficient and effective running of the site, and ensuring that all activities are in line with the FSC 2025 vision.

About you

We are looking for proven ability of managing a key function such as Education, Site Management, Hospitality & Catering or Sales along with experience of working in an education environment and / or similar residential centre. You will be a strong people manager who can demonstrate effective leadership skills and have experience of leading customer focused service delivery.

An ILM 5 /HNC/HND/NVQ Level 4 or Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject would be beneficial and you are required to hold a full UK Driving Licence for use in the UK.

The location

FSC Castle Head is located in south Cumbria between the coast of Morecambe Bay and the Lake District National Park. The Centre is easily accessible by both road and rail, being only 20 minutes from junction 36 of the M6 and an hour and a half drive from both Manchester and Liverpool. The closest train station at Grange-over-Sands is only 5 minutes’ drive from the Centre.

With easy access to both the coastline of Morecambe Bay, the glaciated uplands of the southern Lake District and the lakes of Windermere and Coniston, Castle Head is ideally situated for a wide range of both field studies and adventurous activities.

*Residency - If you live on site, food is included during your working hours and you will pay an accommodation charge of up to 20% of your salary.
