Description

If you are passionate about conservation and have experience of working on nature reserves, countryside parks or in forestry / landscape management, this is an exciting opportunity to work on some of Kent’s finest sites for wildlife and geology.

Natural England is the Government’s adviser for the natural environment in England. Natural England’s purpose is to ensure that the natural environment is conserved, enhanced and managed for the benefit of present and future generations, thereby contributing to sustainable development. The National Nature Reserves team provides ownership, accountability and expertise within Natural England for the management of 143 National Nature Reserves in England, covering some 66,000ha.

As Reserve Manager, you will join a small but passionate team to drive forward our ambitions for environmental improvement. You will oversee the day-to-day management of Wye and Ham Street Woods reserves, working with colleagues to maintain and enhance the condition of the sites and identify how a site interacts with the surrounding landscape, habitats, and local communities.

You will also oversee the financial management of the reserve budget, identify new opportunities to develop chargeable services and contribute to the development and delivery of practical work programmes, which will be delivered using a combination of contractors and volunteers.  This will require building and supervising the team of volunteers at Wye and Ham Street reserves.

If you have experience in a similar role and are familiar with protected sites and environmental legislation and are experienced in project and contractor management we would be delighted to hear from you.

In return for your efforts, we can offer the right candidate:

• Flexible working

• A generous annual leave package of 33 days

• 10 learning and development days

Along with a range of other benefits.
