Purpose of the job

Help climate & energy campaign to quickly gather and analyze factual inputs necessary for planning, implementation and evaluation of its numerous projects. Participate in research capacity building and improvement of knowledge management skills.

Main responsibilities

1. In house desk top research
Based on the requirements of project leaders, run a quick research and/or analyze existing information that can enable fasterand better project planning, implementation and evaluation/learning. This will include areas such as company profiles, economic and investment data, media analysis, monitoring of crisis events, national policies in energy and climate, or trends of various indicators.

2. Writing and checking short reports and briefs
In cooperation with in-house issue experts write short reports and briefings for the campaigns and projects, both for internal and external audiences.

3. Increasing research capacities
Cooperate closely with Greenpeace research coordinators to share the workload, but also to increase research and analytical skills of our own people (both at GPI and NRO teams) via small trainings and skill sharing.

4. Expanding the experts network
Identify the areas of research and expertise relevant to campaigns and projects, and proactively search for new and additional institutions or scientists who can be doing research, consultations, and report writing for us. Together with others, participate in building relations with them so that a larger pool of specialists can be instantly available.

5. Campaign monitoring and evaluation
Perform a reality check and provide qualitative and quantitative feedbacks, so that the unit can better monitor progress and impacts of its projects and constantly improve by learning and better understanding of how the outputs create a change, and also be ready to properly respond to changing realities during the course of projects.

6. Knowledge Management
Contribute to improvements of knowledge management for the campaign, by helping to setup a system and establish good practices across projects and campaigns teams.

Skills required / qualifications

? Highly developed ability to solve problems, utilizing multiple analytical techniques within a focused results orientation
? Highly developed proficiency in database, spreadsheet, powerpoint and information presentation;
? Fluency in written and spoken English required, knowledge of other languages (namely German, Spanish, French, Mandarin/Cantonese, or Japanese) is advantage
? Proven academic and/or practical research and analytical skills
? Understanding how science, politics, economics, business and media objectives are integrated into effective campaign strategies
? Preferably academic degree in science, law or economy
? Experience with international projects and a dynamic environment
? Commitment to environmental/peace issues and non-violent campaigning strategies
? Broad and deep networking abilities
? Excellent oral and written communication skills
