Background Information

Applications are invited for a sea turtle Research position with Sea Turtles 911 (http://www.seaturtles911.org) to help with our conservation projects. Sea Turtles 911 is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of sea turtles. Our efforts are focused in China on the Hainan Island coastal regions that are home to the critically endangered Hawksbill Sea Turtle, the endangered Green Sea Turtle, and vulnerable Olive Ridley Sea Turtle.

To be determined based on the type of research.

Requirements

We are looking for a motivated and experienced researcher who has prior experience with sea turtles. The researcher will have access to Green, Olive Ridley, and Hawksbill Sea Turtles that are in our indoor and outdoor facilities for rehabilitation or headstarting purposes. Due to the fact that there are no known nesting sites on Hainan Island, research will be limited to turtles in captivity. Research topics could include sea turtle genetics, captive breeding, captivity exclusive diseases, sea turtle husbandry, or any suggested topics will be considered. The successful applicant will be familiar with current sea turtle research, have first hand experience with sea turtles, and have an understanding of scientific principles and applications.

Extra consideration will be given to applicants with veterinary experience.

Benefits/Costs

Monthly living stipend and lodging will be provided.
