The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) is an independent nonprofit organization founded to provide first-rate, unbiased research and technical and scientific analysis to environmental regulators. Our mission is to improve the environmental performance and energy efficiency of road, marine, and air transportation, in order to benefit public health and mitigate climate change. The Berlin ICCT office is offering a Researcher position to a highly organized, self-directed person, covering the following tasks: § Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis of current and proposed policies in the light-duty vehicle (passenger cars and vans) sector. Examples include the assessment of real-world effectiveness of air pollutant reduction technologies for gasoline and diesel vehicles, assessment of CO2 reduction potentials and costs of engine technologies and light-weighting materials, and related research projects. § Close interaction and collaboration with project partners from universities, other research institutions, and independent technical consultants. Management of our outside contracts and internal review processes to ensure timely and top quality research results. § Writing progress reports, policy briefs, and ICCT technical reports for both internal and external audiences. Supporting our outreach activities to advance ICCT’s research results and policy recommendations within the key European and international forums. This includes supporting the organization of focused workshops and interaction with various stakeholders, including vehicle manufacturers and parts suppliers across Europe. § Supporting the work of our heavy-duty vehicle team, including projects on technology baseline analysis, technology potential simulation and cost assessment for heavy-duty vehicles in Europe. § Supporting the administration and operations of the Berlin office, including grant applications and project management. § Participation in projects in ICCT’s other program areas based on specific interest, qualification and need. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background with a foundation in engine and vehicle technology, emission and efficiency testing, knowledge of air quality, climate change and transportation policies. A master’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or related discipline is preferred. The position requires excellent quantitative, analytic, and research skills, along with strong written and verbal communication skills and project management experience. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-directed, and creative and strategic in problem solving. Fluency in a language other than English is desirable, as is working experience in the automotive sector. Position details The candidate is expected to work full time at the downtown Berlin office. We are expecting to fill this position as soon as possible. The position will be paid; salary will depend on experience. |
