Description

The biodiversity team at Ecologic Institute is working on projects on national and European biodiversity and green infrastructure-related policy. We are looking forward to receiving applications from candidates with expertise in these areas, able to conduct research at the interface between biodiversity, ecosystem services, land use, green infrastructure and climate change adaptation. In the position, you will work within an interdisciplinary team of highly motivated scientists who are advancing the topic of biodiversity and green infrastructure.

Your tasks:

  • Contribute to the implementation of research projects for clients from Germany and the EU, with a view to take over management responsibilities
  • Conduct policy analyses, governance assessments, literature reviews, interviews, desk-based research, and data analysis as well as oversee case study work, organize and implement project related events, facilitate stakeholder engagement processes and create and manage website content
  • Write reports, policy briefs and recommendations, guidance documents, newsletter stories, tailored dissemination materials, fact sheets, and further materials
  • Support the acquisition of new research projects on biodiversity conservation and green infrastructure, including developing methodological approaches
  • Represent Ecologic Institute to project partners, clients and at national and international events and meetings, including presenting projects and their research results

Your profile:

  • Relevant Master's or PhD degree in e.g. environmental science, nature conservation, landscape/urban ecology, or environmental governance
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience, ideally also including project management
  • Strong knowledge of German and European biodiversity policy (e.g. EU Nature Directives, Natura 2000 network, EU and DE Biodiversity Strategies) as well as of associated financing instruments
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of urban planning, green infrastructure and related governance approaches, challenges and opportunities
  • Experience in project acquisition (administrative and content) for different funding organisations
  • Experience in project design and implementation in multi- and transdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work well both independently and in teams on several projects in parallel
  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills in German and English; other language skills are beneficial
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word/PowerPoint and good knowledge of MS Excel
