The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado is the nation’s primary laboratory for research, development and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. NREL’s Chemical & Materials Science Center has immediate opening for one full-time (40 hours/week) research technician to electrodeposit and characterize thin film semiconductors while adhering to NREL’s high safety standards. The appointment is for one year; possible renewal for a second and a third year will depend on funding and performance.
The candidate will work with an experimental research group conducting materials research studies in the area of electrochemical deposition of semiconductors and photovoltaic devices. The candidate will help NREL scientists in a wide variety of applied areas, including: electrodeposition and thin film characterization (ICP, XRF, and XRD). The candidate also will be required to work closely with the EH&S team to follow safe work procedures, as well as to keep a clean, well-organized work environment.
High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.

Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.
Substantial acquaintance with and understanding of general aspects of the job with a broad understanding of the detailed aspects of the job.

Intermediate to advanced skills in research techniques and practices. Good written, verbal, team, interpersonal and communication skills.
Candidate must have general knowledge of chemistry, preferably through degree and work experience, for safety reasons. 
Experience with modifying experiment chemistry on a limited basis.
The candidate also will be required to work closely with the EH&S team to follow safe work procedures, as well as to keep a clean, well-organized work environment. Technician level experience with electrodeposition and thin film characterization (ICP, XRF, and XRD)and materials research studies.
Chemistry safety and lab exposure is required.
Bachelor degree in chemistry, materials science or equivalent. Experience in use of Labview or similar instrument programming software to operate equipment.
