About AIMS
The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) is Australia's tropical marine research agency with a mission to deliver research on the sustainable development, conservation, and management of tropical marine resources and environments.

The Institute operates from world-class facilities in Townsville, Queensland, Perth Western Australia and Darwin Northern Territory.

About this role
This is an opportunity to play an active role in researching the physiological and genetic drivers of coral health and the potential for corals to adapt to climate change.

Working with a small dedicated team, you will undertake innovative experimental research to reveal the drivers for coral health, their stress tolerances and recovery rates from disturbances.  This work will be based at both our high class laboratory facilities as well as on board our ocean going vessels.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a world leading organisation with attractive working conditions including a 9-day fortnight, generous leave entitlements, relocation assistance, daily transportation to our research facility, a salary range of $75,598 - $86,029 and 15.4% superannuation.  This role is being offered initially for a 12 month contract.

About You
You will be an early career researcher with a PhD and an impressive academic achievement, including a strong publication record relevant to your career history.  You will be skilled and knowledgeable in the areas of:

• Coral physiology
• Functional genomics
• Quantitative genetics
• Bioinformatics
• Statistical principles and analysis
• Experimental design in natural and aquarium settings
