The Environmental Research Visualisation team is a key element of CSIRO’s Environmental Information Systems Program focussing on the use of leading edge technologies to create innovative and effective visualisations for communicating the outcomes of CSIRO’s water and environmental research to a range of audiences (general public, collaborators, stakeholders, executive). Visualisation products may be in the form of: virtual globe applications, 3D fly-throughs, animations, 2D/3D interactive tools, graphs or websites presenting complex scientific data.
Specifically you will
- coordinate with CSIRO Land and Water and Water for a Healthy Country Flagship staff including: Communicators, Executive, Managers and Scientists to ensure the team is focussed on the development of visualisations that meet the requirements of all stakeholders, and to streamline and enhance the delivery and impact of CSIRO science
- ensure that communicating the science is the focus of the work and that appropriate skills and technologies are being used to fully articulate the science outcome
- set the strategic direction of the Environmental Research Visualisation team and ensuring that the technical capacity remains current and focussed.

Salary: $86K - $116K plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be successful you will have :
- Tertiary Degree in relevant area (computer or information sciences, environmental sciences, science communication) or equivalent competencies and experience
- Demonstrated experience with software development technologies and tools, strong knowledge of software design principles, human-computer interfaces (HCI) and patterns
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, coordinate with reporting coordinators, communicators and executive team members and collaborate with industry colleagues
- Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate scientific content with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated experience in working with, and visualisation (2D/3D) of: environmental data sets; time-series data; and GIS data formats.
