Duties and responsibilities:

The research project manager will be responsible for the administrative management of the Center and its research projects, which focus on climate change mitigation through more sustainable energy solutions. He or she will report to the Director of 3CSEP.

The successful applicant will play a key role in managing the activities of 3CSEP, supported by the specialized administrative units of CEU (research support office, finance office, HR office, external relations office etc.). Main tasks include the management of research projects throughout their whole life cycle (negotiations, budget administration, deliverables, reporting etc.) as well as searching for and evaluating new research funding opportunities and help in preparing project proposals. The research project manager will be in constant touch with funding organizations, partner institutions and researchers involved in 3CSEP projects, and secure the flow of information between the different parties involved in projects. He or she will also represent 3CSEP within CEU and towards external partners, serving as first point of contact for inquiries.

Besides the day-to-day management of the Center, the research project manager will contribute to shaping the long-term perspective of 3CSEP through facilitating new research projects and developing other strategic initiatives (e.g. key events) in close collaboration with the Director and senior researchers of the Center. The position also includes responsibility for the Center's budgets and bookkeeping, communication and outreach activities (website, publications, mailing list, media relations) as well as general office management tasks, including the preparation of trips, meetings, and organising conferences, as well as assistance to the Director. Please note that this is not a research position, but the ideal candidate will assist the center’s scientists in smaller research tasks and occasional research supervision.

Qualifications:

• University degree

• Administrative and some project management experience, ideally in an academic/research setting, including experience in budget administration

• Willingness for and interest in developing further skills related to the tasks

• Excellent spoken and written English language skills

• Proficiency in office applications, especially Excel and Word, ideally PowerPoint

• International experience, ideally from a multicultural academic or work environment

• Flexibility and ability to work and solve problems independently

• Good interpersonal and negotiating skills

Advantages:

• Experience in the management of research projects funded from a variety of sources, including EU grants

• SAP experience

• Basic understanding of financial reporting standards and procedures within an organization

• Hungarian language skills

• Website management skills

• Editorial experience on websites and printed publications

• Experience in events organization (conferences etc.)

• Experience in managing HR issues and supervising other people’s work

• Basic understanding of climate change and energy problems and a commitment to solving them

Compensation:

The position comes with an initial one-year contract, with the possibility of renewal.

Commensurate with experience. However, we offer a competitive salary, as well as a dynamic and international academic environment.
