Description
Greenpeace has campaigned for many years to address and eliminate the sources of toxics pollution and has recommended the adoption of a clean production framework, requiring the reduction and ultimate elimination of hazardous and toxic chemicals in production processes, and their replacement with clean substitutes. In pursuit of this goal we wish to commission a small research study to indentify industries along the Ganga with data on their scale of pollutants etc.

Scope of the study: Identify sources of Industrial pollution along the Ganga River1.  Develop a Google Map plotted with industries along the Ganga – specify the nature of the industry(eg chlorine; paper pulp; tannery)2.  Identify a priority list of industries based on the following criteria   

   a. Scale of production   

   b. Scale of pollutants emitted      c. Association with a global brand / is a multinational3. Create a priority list of hazardous substances from key sectors as identified by law / rules in India.

Timeline: 2 months (starting as soon the researcher is hired) Remuneration: Rs. 25,000 for the period of project (this is negotiable)
