IIED hosts the Green Economy Coalition (GEC), an international cross-sectoral initiative bringing together environment, development, trade union, consumer and business sectors, North and South. Established in 2009, GEC members are committed to a common cause: accelerating a transition to a new green economy (see www.greeneconomycoalition.org for further information). Summary of role:
The Green Economy Coalition is at an exciting stage in its development and is seeking the support of a dynamic and ambitious research intern for 2-3 days per week. The post holder will play an integral part in helping to build and shape a new organisation with a global remit, and have the opportunity to play a part in taking new ideas to a global level. The main duties of the role will involve drafting content for the new website as part of the ‘Big Picture Project’ for communicating the green economy; identifying and uploading compelling new media content; drafting and developing fundraising proposals for the ongoing work of the GEC; and assisting in organising events for the ongoing work of the coalition in their advocacy work in the run up to the Rio 2012 Earth Summit. To succeed you will need to be a first class communicator at all levels. In particular, you will have some knowledge of maintaining websites and developing strong online content to communicate complex topics. Passionate about the cause of the GEC, it would be beneficial if you have experience of green economy or sustainability issues.
