Sound knowledge informs all of our work within the Research Unit - from the investigative tools and techniques we employ, through publications and the advice that we infuse into international campaign strategies. We are looking for someone with a passion for the global environment and a desire to progress positive changes within local contexts; is committed to sharing knowledge and has the ability to convert knowledge into action. Within this role you will develop and maintain systems to inform, lead and evaluate campaign research projects across at least two international issue areas, advising on effective strategies in line with our global programme. You can problem solve, utilising analytical techniques, and have mentoring/coaching skills, political awareness, as well as networking aptitude. An exceptional communicator, you must have excellent English along with fluency in at least one other language. A commitment to environmental/peace issues and non-violent campaigning strategies is essential. Purpose of the job

To develop and maintain systems to lead, develop and coordinate global campaign research projects in order to conduct, and train, knowledge management and global project management across at least two international campaign issue areas and advise international issue unit heads and NRO’s on effective campaign strategies in line with Greenpeace’s programme.


Main responsibilities

1. Develop Global Information Acquisition Systems
In collaboration with the Unit Head of Research, develop and maintain systems, standards and protocols for knowledge management and campaign research in order to develop best global practice and progress at least two international issue areas.


2. Coordinate Global Information Acquisition and Research Project Management
Lead and develop the project management of multiple concurrent global research projects with other units and NRO’s, the selection and management of freelance researchers and field investigators and the accompanying budgeting in order to ensure that timely, accurate and relevant global research progresses international policy and campaign objectives across at least two international issue areas.


3. Campaign Evaluation and Feedback
Develop and maintain campaign strategy evaluation processes to continually feedback global outcomes, to inform and advise global campaigns, NRO’s and the broader organization, in order to progress the quality, relevance and timeliness of campaign strategies and outcomes across at least two campaign issue areas.


4. External Networks and Representation
Develop global external networks and represent the organisation at international conferences and meetings in addition to the IED/SMT within the relevant international academic, NGO, business and government communities in order to influence these networks in line with global Greenpeace objectives.
5. Publications


Lead and coordinate the production of publications and briefings, for internal and external audiences based on coordinating intelligence information and in line with campaign or project requirements in order to progress project objectives across at least two international issue areas.


6. Global Knowledge and Project Management Training and NRO Liaison and Support
Provide knowledge and project management training and NRO support across the organization in order to develop global best practice in knowledge management and research and build organizational capability and capacity to inform at lest two international issue areas.


7. Campaign Planning
Lead and develop campaign research needs and opportunities within the campaign planning and implementation process in order to advise issue Unit Heads, develop campaign strategies and progress campaign objectives across at least two international issue areas.


Skills required / qualifications

- Minimum of five years remotely leading high-level multiple, concurrent cross- cultural knowledge management or research project teams in a complex global organization
- Minimum Masters Academic qualification in sciences or business
- Proven deep experience and knowledge of at least one of the organization’s international campaign issue areas
- Proven ability to successfully and consistently lead and manage projects at a high level internationally on multiple, concurrent shifting priorities within a high stress environment
- Proven project budgeting knowledge and experience
- Proven deep knowledge and experience of how science, economics, business and media objectives are integrated into effective campaign strategies
- Proven commitment to environmental/peace issues and non-violent campaigning strategies
- Fluent in written and spoken English required, with fluency of at least one of the following: Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Mandarin/Cantonese, Portuguese, Russian or Japanese required;
- Highly developed ability to problem solve, utilising multiple analytical techniques within a focused results orientation.
- Highly developed proficiency in database, spreadsheet, powerpoint and information presentation;
- Mentoring/ coaching skills;
- Highly developed political and strategic awareness
- Broad and deep networking abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
