Research Associate - Environmental Instrument Engineer

Based in Bangor - Full time (37 hours)

Contract Type:  Fixed Term Appointment (3 year training programme)

Salary £19,937 – £23,640

The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH) is part of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and is the UK's Centre of Excellence for integrated research in terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems and their interaction with the atmosphere. About the role

We offer a prestigious Research Associate training programme to develop skilled UK/EU instrument engineers for the future of European environmental research.  The 3-year training programme offers you the opportunity to gain practical experience of working within our active research projects whilst acquiring specialist and wider skills valuable for your future career.  Each Research Associate will deliver specific, measurable objectives intended to develop their skills as an engineer and to demonstrate their suitability for a technical career.

You will be working on a range of natural and managed rugged environments to support scientists studying climate change impact, land use and water resources, greenhouse gas emissions, soils and vegetation. Projects sites are based mostly in Snowdonia, Anglesey and mid-Wales.

About you:

We are looking for someone with competence in computing, electronics and instrumentation for environmental science, with an interest in integrating environmental sensors to become part of the Integrated Catchment Management and Soil Systems team.
