Description

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), a non-profit institution known for its rigorous and scientific policy research and advocacy on environmental issues, is looking for a Research Associate for its Climate Change Programme

Job Description: 
The person will be working in climate change team at CSE, and provide back-end research support, independently conduct both off-site and on-site research on various aspects of climate change and its socio-economic impact. The job will also involve documentation, compiling briefing papers, writing reports and articles for different kinds of audiences and publications, by synthesising ground realities and academic literature on the subject. The position offers an exciting opportunity for the candidate to be part of global and national climate change debate, negotiations and policy formation. 

The person will be engaged in reviewing global and national policies on climate change and evaluate how they fit into the country's development agenda, obligations and constraints. This position will involve strong networking with NGOs, understand ramifications of various existing and proposed policies and develop need-based sectoral strategies and policy requirements/guidelines that will facilitate dialogues among various government and non-government agencies, actors and agents. The person will also have to organise seminars and workshops on various apropos themes and help converge multitude of views on one platform. 

Qualification: 

Master’s in social sciences/developmental studies/ journalism, with a clear understanding of climate change politics, policy frameworks, negotiations vis-a-vis concerns and ground realities of developing countries

Excellent writing skills and networking abilities 

Comprehends current climate change related mechanisms and instruments that are at play today

Have a penchant for developmental issues and constraints. 

Two to four years of work experience in a similar capacity/field is desirable 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
