ABOUT THE ROLE
The Climate Group is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate. Reporting to the Smart2020 Project Manager, the role presents a fantastic opportunity to work on climate change issues in a successful NGO. The research associate will support the implementation and delivery of The Climate Group’s Smart 2020 “Identifying Smart Opportunities in Cities” workstream. 
The role will include but not be limited to:
• Assisting with the development of the conceptual framework for Smart Cities as well as the
creation of the Smart Cities value case methodology 
• Identifying, compiling and summarizing examples of Smart Cities research, reports,
initiatives and existing methodologies 
• Conducting in-depth research using a variety of methods including desk research,
questionnaire development, administration and face-to-face and telephone interviews
• Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data 
• Undertaking administrative work and other duties as required to support the workstream
and wider programme 
ABOUT YOU
• A good first and preferably second degree in a relevant area (social sciences, urban planning
or related degree preferred). 
• Knowledge and previous experience of Smart Cities research and practice preferred
• Excellent analytical, research and writing skills 
• Exceptional organisational skills for knowledge and data management. 
• Ability to manage own time, multiple priorities, work under tight deadlines, and provide
high-quality research outputs. 
• Flexibility to take on other tasks as required by the organisation and willingness to travel if
and when required. 
• A passion for involvement in environmental and climate change solutions is highly desirable.
