Responsibilities:

Working with team members and external partners, the successful candidate will:  

 

  • Conduct research and analysis on low-carbon city blueprint, practical solutions, and related projects
  • Review international experiences in low-carbon development options and analyze their applicability to Chinese cities
  • Participate in the scoping, mapping, and review of existing country-level and city-level low carbon development studies
  • Support to develop practical guidance and tools for low-carbon city planning for municipal governments
  • Assist bottom-up sectoral and technological analysis for carbon reduction in the key sectors  and development of optional technological roadmaps for pilot cities
  • Assist to produce, proofread, and edit research reports and papers in both English and Chinese, and coordinate publication process
  • Support to organize internal/external meetings, workshops, conferences, and other project dissemination activities
  • Assist in some project management work as needed
  • Support other activities as needed

 



Qualifications:
  • Bachelor or Master degree in environmental economics/policy/engineering, urban planning/studies, or related field
  • 2-3 years work experience in climate and energy field, experience in low-carbon city planning and sectoral projects would be an advantage
  • Familiarity with environmental and economic assessment of low carbon technologies as well as bottom-up technological modeling and analysis
  • Strong quantitative analytical skills
  • Excellent research, analytical, writing, and presentation skills, preferably with publication experience
  • Fluency in oral and written Chinese and English
  • Ability to work well in a team, manage multiple priorities, take initiative, and deliver under tight deadlines
  • Willingness to travel and to concentrate on field work as needed

 

Position Reports to

WRI China Country Director (CCD) and the associate per CCD’s authorization.
