Research assistant, Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3)
Water Infrastructure Solutions from Ecosystem Services Underpinning Climate Resilient Policies and Programmes
The Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) offers a position for a research assistant in the context of a project financed by the International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, called WISE-UP: Water Infrastructure Solutions from Ecosystem Services Underpinning Climate Resilient Policies and Programmes.
Specifically the Research Assistant will:
- Identify and evaluate the environmental benefits associated with changes to ecosystem functioning in river basins, through a literature review and the construction of a database summarizing qualitative and quantitative impacts.
- Identify and evaluate adaptation measures and good practices, applicable to the selected study area, providing co-benefits of the protection of ecosystems.
- Assist in the general methodological framework for assessing costs and benefits of adaptation in the selected study area.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in Africa and participate to workshops and meetings. The project will involve field visits for short periods of time to Kenya and Ghana.
- Contribute to the publication of high-impact, peer-reviewed research in international scientific journals.
Experience/skills required:
- The applicant must have a degree in environmental economics/sciences or a related field as well as some background in economic valuation.
- The applicant must have excellent interpersonal as well communication skills (written and oral) in English.
Location: Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3), Bilbao, Spain.
Tenure: The position will be for a period of 12 months.
