The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Research Assistant for its Animal Research Issues Department.  The main responsibility of this position is to provide research, writing and administrative support to the department. Other duties include, but are not limited to: gather and process information; assist with outreach efforts to the public, policymakers and regulators; draft text and prepare tables, figures and slides for manuscripts and public education materials; coordinate monthly executive and other departmental reports and schedule monthly staff and other departmental meetings.  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field along with one to three years’ experience highly desired. Candidate must have experience in internet research and possess good writing and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook highly desired. Commitment to animal protection including basic knowledge and comprehension of current issues preferred.  The salary range for this position is in the mid $30’s.
