LCV is seeking a Research and List Management Coordinator primarily responsible for prospect research of current and new major donors, qualifying new individual major donor prospects ($1,000+) and assisting in the effective evaluation, assignment, solicitation and stewardship of donors to meet fundraising goals.

 

  • Responsible for the overall maintenance and accuracy of the Major Donor and Major Donor Prospect portfolios used by the members of the Major Gifts team.
  • Performs prospect research and works with Major Gifts Team and Director of Foundation Relations to establish cultivation and solicitation strategies for current and prospective major donors.
  • Uses LCV’s current donor and activist lists to proactively glean information to identify new fundraising prospects or fundraising approaches for donors who can increase or reactivate their giving.
  • Qualifies major donor prospects by researching and analyzing individuals in order to establish priorities and ensure the ongoing development, expansion and renewal of the prospect and donor base.
  • Provide coherent, accurate and thorough donor profiles to fulfill proactive and reactive research projects, including donor visits and calls.
  • Conceptualizes and develops prospecting methodologies to support organization’s fundraising goals.
  • Gathers information from a variety of sources including newspapers, magazines, electronic data sources, journals, and clippings; shows initiative in identifying new sources of information as they become necessary and/or available.
  • Maintain an overall knowledge of top donors and prospects.
  • Record, organize, and maintain all prospect/donor information files, both electronic (research drive and donor database) and paper.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in prospect research by attending training sessions.
  • Work with Director of Strategic Partnerships and Director of Database Management to develop and maintain stats tracking and performance analysis.
  • Manages research resource accounts and coordinates vendor relations.
  • Conducts in-depth research projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

  • Education:  College degree required.
  • Work experience:  Two years experience working in a non-profit, political organization or campaign.  Experience in list management.  Experience with research tools like InfoGlobe, Infomart, LNDP, WealthEngine, Researchpoint, Transparency Data, Open Secrets and CQ Moneyline.  Experience in major donor prospect research preferred. 
  • Skills: Excellent analytical skills.  Good written and oral communications skills, excellent skills in word processing and spreadsheets (Windows, Microsoft Word, and Excel required, PowerPoint preferred).  Database administration including database selects and record maintenance.  Attentive to details, and adept at maintaining systems for easy access to information and data.
  • Capabilities:  Solid judgment; critical thinking skills; a sense of teamwork and community; ability to handle multiple tasks and work for several people; highly organized; commitment to environmental protection and mission of LCV.
  • Conditions:  Able to work hours in excess of stated office hours to get the job done; ability to travel occasionally.
