My client is a global manufacturer and developer of high efficiency photovoltaic (PV) cells using crystalline silicon. My client operates on an international scale throughout Europe and America in which they have seen much success in solar PV cell production. They are currently looking for a senior solar PV research and development scientist to work out of their office on the East Coast of America.

 

Position Overview:

My client is looking for an experienced solar scientist with expertise and experience in the development of crystalline silicon solar cells. This is an exceptional opportunity to take a pioneering position within an already established global organisation who are looking to be market leaders in the field of solar PV cell efficiency, They are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to be actively involved in the development and advancement of their cell lines and who is passionate about the advancement of such technology.

 

Responsibilities:

  • ·         Use progressive manufacturing photovoltaic processes to advance the efficiency of products
  • ·         Work extensively on the development of crystalline silicon solar cells.
  • ·         Apply scientific knowledge to innovate and apply advanced concepts such as surface passivation by heterojunctions
  • ·         Draw reliable conclusions from project data.
  • ·         Work as part of an internal team and at times collaborate with external solar organisations.
  • ·         Design and optimise crystalline silicon solar cell structures using PC1D
  • ·         Deal directly with hydrofluoric acid and phosphorus oxychloride
  • ·         Would be reporting to the Vice President of research and development (r&d) regularly
  • ·         Execute standard fabrication processes such as wafer cleaning and texturing

 

Education:

  • ·         A successful candidate will be educated to MSc or PhD level in materials science, chemical engineering or physics.

 

Core Requirements:

  • ·         Have practical, hands on experience in solar n-type silicon or p-type silicon and the doping processes involved
  • ·         Must have extensive knowledge in handling hazardous gasses such as ammonia and silane
  • ·         Have extensive experience using software such as PC1D
  • ·         Will have an understanding of the physics of operation of photovoltaic silicon solar cells and a working knowledge of the technology used to produce them

 

General Requirements

  • ·         Be willing to work out of the East Coast of America
  • ·         Be relied upon to  work as part of a team and take the lead when necessary
