National Wildlife Federation in currently in need of a Research Analyst. The Analyst will be responsible for researching individuals, community and private foundations, and corporate funding programs in support of NWF’s fundraising efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Proactive Research & Projects – Indentifying funding opportunities that match NWF’s fundraising and program priorities. Increase the pool of potential major donors through proactive identification through prospects, in particular through the Thank You Call program and examination of data resulting from electronic screenings.
- Work with fundraisers to stay abreast of programs, priorities and research needs.
- Proactively identify and execute projects that will strengthen the organization and its ability to raise money.
- Project Management – Manage the research needs of particular NWF staff.
- Work with fundraisers to determine feasibility of research requests and negotiate project scopes, product and deadlines directly with the requestor. Manage all aspects of each request from receipt of request to completion.
- Database & Moves Management – Enter information into Raiser’s Edge and ensure accurate coding.
- Determine placement of each prospect in the cultivation cycle based on research findings.
- Collaborate with the Raiser’s Edge team to create and update reports as needed.
- Manage pool of DDC prospects to ensure that it is a useful group for membership upgrade strategies.
Other responsibility include but are not limited to: reviewing and recommending research resources, maintaining new alerts for fundraising staff, executing projects as requested by DM’s Director, providing training for staff regarding research as needed, and increasing personal knowledge of research applications through professional development.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of research-related experience in a corporate, educational, or non-profit environment.
Skills:
- Excellent attention to detail, strong written and oral communications
- Strong problem solving and judgment ability
- Ability to interpret, analyze and summarize data
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to be flexible, shift priorities, multitask, and meet short deadlines.
Preferred skills: Experience with Lexis-Nexis, fundraising databases (Raiser’s Edge), library science skills, and interest in conservation.
