£25,000 - £35,000 Home Services, SSE's gas and electrical maintenance and installations business has an aim to be the best service provider of domestic maintenance and installation services, with a target of achieving 1 million customers by 2020. The Renewables System Designer supports engineering design activities with the aim of providing design solutions to support the specification and sales of energy reducing measures for the UK housing retrofit environment. The initial focus is on renewable heating technologies such as heat pumps; biomass; micro CHP; solar thermal and solid wall insulation. You'll follow design engineering principles in line with Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), ensuring safety is a key consideration within the design process. You'll also be responsible for the development and maintenance of the suite of design tools to ensure they reflect the most current pricing model. You'll take ownership of the customer relationship during the design and optiminisation stages including preparation of planning and grid connection packs; definition of metering requirements and subsequent analysis of system performance. You'll need to be able to produce tailored quotes and will liaise with suppliers to optimise the range of products offered to customers. We're looking for someone with knowledge and awareness of the challenges facing the UK built environment and an understanding of incentives available to householders adopting renewable heating systems. Ideally you will have a post graduate degree in Renewable Energy Systems, however you should at least be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a science or related engineering discipline. Of course you'll have expertise in renewable systems. A great communicator, you'll also have excellent influencing skills and will be highly motivated. You should have a good attention to detail and with an analytical mind you'll aslo have experience of a range of mathematical modelling packages.
