SunEdison Capital

SunEdison Capital was formed in March of 2013, building on SunEdison's track record of raising over five billion dollars of project finance capital over the last five years the division focuses on aggregating capital to develop, build and finance the long-term ownership of solar power plants. SunEdison Capital develops internal and external capital funds and facilities, playing a key role in financing the growth of SunEdison's solar business, including project pipeline of more than 2.7 Gigawatts.


Basic job duties are to ensure SunEdison’s global fleet of solar power plants are maximizing energy yield at all times in all regions globally. This is accomplished by analyzing data acquired by SunEdison’s remote monitoring systems to identify anomalies, diagnose root causes or issues, and resolve outages & low performance. The aforementioned will also involve ticketing, dispatching global field technicians & reporting to internal and external parties on plant operations.


  • Monitoring global fleet of solar power plants to identify system outages and performance issues which impact maximized energy yield.
  • Create tickets to capture identified issues and assign tickets to Regional Service Technicians for dispatch.
  • Support ROC engineers & field technicians during solar plant commissioning activities including configuring SunEdison’s data acquisition systems.
  • Generate graphs & compile data sets for analysis and identifying historical trends.
  • Ability to multi-task while prioritizing work load to consistently deliver on company objectives.
  • Communicate with internal and external entities effectively regarding fleet operations.
  • Answer phones during business hours including scheduled on-call periods if assigned.
  • Produce solar system failure history for vendor warranty purposes.
  • Follow processes and procedures, including identifying methods to increase efficiency.
  • Perform ad-hoc plant degradation analysis & diagnosis.
  • Manage Service Operations global email inbox and outgoing correspondence
  • Creating and managing accounts for Sunedison’s various forward facing webportal
  • Assist in writing documentation for expanded tools and processes as they are developed
  • Work with Field Techs and Sub Contractors to trouble shoot issues at remote sites
  • Weekend and evening shift work may be required.


  • A college degree in electrical engineering is preferred with eligibility for CET. Experience in the solar industry may be used in lieu of college degree.
  • Basic networking, communications (modbus, serial, TCP/IP) & IT knowledge and experience applying such is strongly preferred.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people are essential. Multi-tasking and excellent organizational skills are necessary.
  • Very strong English skills required. Ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group is crucial.
  • Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential.
  • Multi-lingual in one or more of the following languages a plus: Hindi, Italian, Spanish, Thai, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese
  • Able to apply statistical calculations, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and sampling theory as well as algebra, linear equations, and other analytics as required.
  • Able to create, understand and utilize raw data analysis in excel and various internal tools required.
  • Knowledge of IT systems, database architecture, and software development processes and best practices is desired. SQL, XML and script writing are a plus. Knowledge of both Windows based and Linux based systems also a plus.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office are a requirement.
  • Overtime may be requested as necessary
  • Weekend, Holiday and Shift work may be required


The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Activities include extended periods of sitting and extensive work at a computer monitor, telephone and/or calculator.

Sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.

No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines.
