Description

WRA seeks a Renewable Energy Transmission Project (RETP) Director . This person will work to develop and advocate for policies that accelerate the region’s transition to renewable energy and other clean energy technologies while ensuring public lands and wildlife are protected. The RETP Director will be responsible for leading and managing WRA’s activities by:

(1) participating in permitting and siting proceedings to secure investments in renewable energy and needed transmission projects while minimizing lands and wildlife impacts;

(2) advancing WRA’s clean energy goals in state, regional, and national planning and permitting forums relating to renewable energy generation and transmission;

(3) participating with other conservationists and clean energy advocates in transmission corridor designation and permitting forums; and

(4) building a strong coalition of regional stakeholders (including electric utilities, the renewable energy industry, and the environmental community) who are committed to protecting the West’s public lands while transitioning to cleaner energy technologies.

Candidates should have significant experience in the renewable energy and electricity sectors with a firm understanding of transmission development and its environmental impacts. Strong quantitative and analytical abilities, excellent written and oral communication skills, experience working in collaborative processes, and the ability to manage employees and work independently are required. Two or more years experience in environmental protection/public lands advocacy and in the electricity/renewable energy sector, as well as a personal commitment to a cleaner environment and a more sustainable energy future are essential. Salary and benefits are comparable to regional non-profit organizations and are dependent on experience and qualification.
