| Description: |
We are seeking an energetic, professional and detail-oriented individual to lead our renewable energy community outreach work in the Hartford and central Connecticut area. The ideal candidate will have:
•Natural leadership qualities and a readiness to lead by example.
•The ability to keep staff motivated, engaged, and excited to do good (though often difficult) work, with genuine enthusiasm and dedication to the environment, renewable energy, and the company mission.
•The ability to maintain the highest level of integrity and customer service in all aspects of the position.
This is a 30 hour/week position including weekend and evening hours. Time will be split between a home office and working in the field with Outreach Associates in the defined region.
Home office phone and internet reimbursements are provided. Access to a reliable personal vehicle is required. |
| Duties: |
•Coordinate and participate in outreach efforts for door-to-door residential campaigns and events
• Hire, mentor, train and manage a team of approximately 5-8 part-time Outreach Associates while meeting high personal performance standards
• Work closely with a Senior Outreach Coordinator and regional training staff to collaborate on staff development, training opportunities and best practices
• Manage a budget for personnel and other outreach costs
• Acquire and maintain a deep familiarity with renewable energy
• Accurately describe energy programs to customers
• Maintain knowledge of the people, culture, events, and social/political pulse of Connecticut
• Participate in general company activities, including team and company-wide meetings
• General office management and administrative tasks |
| Qualifications: |
• Dedication to sustainability and interest in renewable energy
• Sales instincts and drive
• Experience in outreach, sales, community organizing or other related fields
• Experience in training and managing teams
• Outgoing personality
• Willingness to initiate customer interactions and train staff to do the same
• Excellent organizational skills
• Fluency in Google Apps
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to carry up to 50 lbs, set up at events and walk or stand up to 5 hours at a time in unpredictable weather
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends; employee will work a regular schedule as well as be available for events/shifts with varying schedules
