Job Purpose Summary

We are looking for a skilled person to join Peatland ACTION’s Data & Evidence Team to develop our use of remote sensing and earth observation tools and innovative technology to benefit the design, delivery and monitoring of peatland restoration at scale.

You will have a degree in remote sensing or earth observation or equivalent experience, coupled with strong knowledge of peatland ecology.

You will need to understand how GIS, remote sensing and earth observation tools and datasets are useful in terms of prioritising, mapping and monitoring peatland restoration work.  Your communication skills and willingness to help will be excellent in order to support and advise others effectively on how remote sensing and earth observation can help in peatland restoration.

A key focus of the role will be management and coordination of an exciting ongoing project using satellite radar (InSAR) to measure peatland surface motion to assess and monitor peatland condition.  This project involves collaboration with academic project partners, key stakeholders and members of Peatland ACTION.

You will also provide expert advice, training and support for Peatland ACTION staff on remote sensing tools and data, and work with the rest of the Data and Evidence team to collate, manage, analyse and disseminate Peatland ACTION data
