Description

This is an exceptional opportunity to make a very real contribution to the protection of Australia’s unique wildlife and their habitat.

Bush Heritage Australia is a national leader in landscape-scale conservation. Independent and evidence-based, we work where we are needed most: in areas of high conservation value with low levels of protection. We protect and help manage 6.2 million hectares of land, providing habitat for over 5800 native species, including at least 235 threatened species.  We have two proven approaches to what we do: we carefully select, purchase and manage landscapes of high conservation value; and we work in partnership with others, including Traditional Owners, to achieve conservation outcomes.

About the role

Naree Station is a former pastoral property in one of the least disturbed parts of the Murray-Darling Basin in north-western NSW. It lies in the Mulga Lands bioregion, 150km north-west of Bourke, on the Cuttaburra Channels that connect the Paroo and Warrego rivers. Naree helps protect nationally significant, arid-zone ephemeral wetlands, considered among the top 20 for waterbirds in Australia.

Through this rare and exciting role you will apply your natural and cultural resource management skills to ensure that the day to day management of the Reserve meets the conservation and organisational goals of Bush Heritage. You will represent and promote Bush Heritage in the region. Providing opportunities to engage others in the delivery of science, land management conservation and cultural heritage activities in and around the reserves. The position will be based at our Naree Station Reserve and will require travel to and within the Reserves and other locations. This is a 1.3 FTE position and ideally will be filled through a job share arrangement between a couple with complementary skills.
