Regional Manager Asia-Pacific (M/F)

FUNCTION

FLO-CERT is seeking an experienced professional for the role of the Regional Manager Asia Pacific to manage our business and Fairtrade certification services in the Asia-Pacific region, based in Bangalore, India.



CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the FLO-CERT Regional Office in Bangalore.
  • Manage the Certification Team - Asia Pacific, take certification decisions and oversee certification activities.
  • Select, train and evaluate auditors & staff.
  • Participate in continuously improving the effectiveness and efficiency of FLO-CERT’s services and processes.
  • Engage with multiple stakeholder, and deal with multi-cultural / multi lingual teams.
  • Engage with local communities, government agencies, and international organisations across different regions.
  • Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of certification, sustainability and supply chain management.
  • Actively promote and sell FLO-CERT’s various services.


TASKS

Office Management
  • Ensure compliance with all aspects of Health & Safety, Security, Insurance & Legal requirements.
  • Ensure timely reporting and accounting as required by local regulations.
  • Legally represent FLO-CERT in the region.
  • Prepare an annual business plan based on the budget allocated to the business units.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring office operational management and development.
  • Manage and control departmental expenditures within agreed budgets, timelines, standards & policies.
  • Manage cash and payment processes in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Execute Office Management responsibilities according to lawful, ethical, environmental and general standards of care.

Staff Management
  • Participate in staff hiring process.
  • Ensure adequate training, guidance and evaluation of staff.
  • Manage all aspects of staff reporting processes, policies and procedures relating to Holidays, Sickness, Staff Discipline and Staff Record Keeping.

Operational Tasks
  • Plan, develop and implement strategies for operational management and development to meet performance plans within agreed budgets and timescales.
  • Ensure timely submission of FLO-CERT’s periodic reporting requirements.
  • Liaise with other functional/departmental managers so as to understand all necessary aspects and needs of operational development, and to ensure they are fully informed of operational objectives, purposes and achievements.
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of operational matters and provide suitable reporting to directors, managers and staff within the organization as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and development of operational strategy and performance in co-optation with the management team.
  • Ensure communication with fellow RMs and the Certification Department in Bonn.

Certification
  • Take certification decisions based on the evaluations results submitted.
  • Manage application and certification & invoicing processes of operators.
  • Manage the quality control of audit reports.
  • Manage the regional planning of audits.
  • Ensure communication with NFO’s and Fairtrade International, factoring FLO-CERT’s confidentiality policy.

Selection, Evaluation and Training of Auditors
  • Identify new auditors for the assigned region.
  • Manage the training process of new and appointed auditors.
  • Coordinate regional auditor trainings where necessary.
  • Regular evaluation of auditors in the assigned region.
  • Ensure communication with auditors.

Continuous Improvement of FLO-CERT processes
  • Coordinate & communicate precedent decisions & exceptions within the managerial team.
  • Manage consultation and feedback process for the improvement of Fairtrade Standards within the assigned Team (including auditors), when required.
  • Participate in the consultation and feedback process for the improvement of audits and certification processes as well as interpretation of Fairtrade Standards.
  • Contribute actively to the internal consultation processes for development of new Compliance Criteria when applicable.
  • Follow FLO-CERT’s standard operation procedures as well as work instructions.
  • Contribute to projects as team member or when appointed, as team leader.

Any additional individual tasks assigned based on operational requirements as and when they arise.

Director of Operations (based in Germany)


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary:

  • University degree in any relevant field, e.g. Food Science, Business, Agri-business, Quality, Agronomy, Management etc.
  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in the field of food processing, verification or certification, supply chain management, sustainability or equivalent  business area.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in managing team(s) / staff.
  • Familiar with one or more of the following certification schemes: Organic, SA 8000, Fairtrade, FSC, MSC, JAS, ISO etc., or equivalent.
  • Fluent in English oral and written.
  • Experience in international trade.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
  • A hands-on, assertive and entrepreneurial working style.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in dealing with different cultures.
  • Motivation for Fairtrade and Sustainability.

Advantages:

  • Experience in Social auditing, Carbon and/or Water Footprinting.
  • Experience in Sales and Marketing.
  • Experience in managing projects.
  • Language skills in Hindi and other Indian Languages.
  • Technical knowledge related to agribusiness (coffee, tea, cocoa, sugar, banana, wine, etc.).


TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Job Share: 100%
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Position is based in the FLO-CERT Office in Bangalore, India.
  • The office and working language is English.
  • The salary package is commensurate to qualifications and experience.
  • Holidays: 30 days per year
