Description

Location: Denby Dale, Newcastle or Lancaster

Are you passionate about Saving Nature? Are you keen to join the RSPB in our fight to save threatened species, conserve our natural environment and tackle the threats from climate change?

If you are, and you are also a strong leader able to manage and motivate teams, have excellent interpersonal skills to sell our message to existing and new supporters, then you might just be the person we are looking for.

This is an exciting time of change at RSPB. We have just embarked on our new strategy, Saving Nature, with big ambitions for conservation and an aspiration to double our income by 2020. Due to an internal secondment we now have an opportunity for someone to step up to the mark and help us achieve that ambition through income from grant making bodies.

The person we are looking for will have great people skills, a leader who is able to inspire, enthuse and motivate staff, volunteers and funders and has the drive, focus and energy to achieve results. You will also be a great communicator, able to write successful funding bids from a whole host of grant funders from trusts and foundations to Landfill Communities Fund and the National Lottery. You will also need strong financial skills, able to read, understand and put together complex budgets.

You will be able to think strategically across the regional work programme to see where we can best achieve our ambition to double our income in the region by 2020 and not be afraid of taking measured risks.

You will have had some have experience of working with and through others to achieve results, including managing teams, extracting the best from individuals, and achieving success through partnership working.

This post is a two year contract (which may be available as a secondment to internal candidates) and can be based at one of our offices in Denby Dale, Newcastle or Lancaster, with a preference for Denby Dale or Newcastle.
