The Regional Documentation and Information Officer will coordinate and manage links and information flows within the IUCN West Asia Regional Water Resources and Dry-lands Programme (REWARD) partnership and with other regional initiatives, in order to support the country teams towards the achievement of the objectives of the REWARD programme. He/she will support the REWARD Deputy Coordinator in all external networking activities in the Mediterranean Region.

The position requires active interaction and communication with government and non-government organizations, private sector, local organizations and the REWARD direct Partners, to maximize the impact of the project. He/she will be accountable for projects implementation to the REWARD Deputy Coordinator.  

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement process documentation and dissemination plans in close consultation with the staff
- Help REWARD team with their process documentation work: conducting interviews, taking photographs, making video sequences etc.
- Ensure the quality and validity of information collected from the field and nationally.
- Support REWARD staff to develop information outputs such as newsletters, newspaper articles, website, flyers, briefing notes, short video films etc.
- Edit and abstract project documents into articles for newsletter and the website.
- Organize and manage information, documentation and dissemination of programme activities and results within REWARD and with other fora on ecosystem management and climate change adaptation.
- Supporting the programme deputy coordinator in organizing the regional workshops and events..
- Develop and oversee maintenance of a database for networking; data base on organizations working in ecosystem management, climate change adaptation and IWRM for purposes of strategic alliances, match-funding and information sharing.
- Support the Country Partnerships to use REWARD's results for wider public awareness campaigns on problems, opportunities and trends in the natural resources sector in the targeted Governorates /watersheds.
- Organize and support the development and use of educational materials in schools in targeted programme impact areas for increased awareness around relevant issues.
- Write monthly and six-monthly progress reports (and other process documentation report) for the Regional documentation and Information Programme.
- Prepare financial project reports on the Regional Information Programme
- Participate in and organize workshops, conference and training events according to project action plans.  

Ensure strong information flows between all interested parties concerned (within and outside the REWARD Partnership)
- Ensure effective information flow among all staff, members and partners and stakeholders involved.
- Organize and manage information, documentation and dissemination of programme activities and results within REWARD and with other fora on Climate Change Adaptation and IWRM.
- Advice and coach staff in developing plans to strengthen regional links and information sharing between countries in the region.
- Develop plans in close consultation with all partners for information sharing and coordination to strengthen regional policy and technical fora and consolidation of regional, national and international programmes.  

Support the REWARD Deputy Coordinator in coordinating the efforts with Water and Nature Initiative(WANI) and other regional and international initiatives
- Develop and oversee maintenance of REWARD institutional memory for networking; data base on organizations working in IWRM and Climate Change Adaptation for purposes of strategic alliances, fund raising and information sharing.
- Keep abreast of latest developments both at the regional and national level in climate change adaptation and ecosystem management, and contributes to the debate in this sector.
- Specifically ensure direct links on relevant networking, knowledge and learning activities with REWARD and the Water and Nature Initiative (WANI) of IUCNs Global Water Programme.
- Establish and maintain links with other regional networks in the Mediterranean Region, such as the Global Water Partnership (GWP-MED), the Arab Water Council, Arab League, CEDARE, etc.  

Support and sustain the REWARD programme as part of the IUCN ROWA’s strategic programme
- Support the REWARD Deputy Coordinator in the conceptual and methodological guidance of the regional information component as the heart of the REWARD Programme
- Guide and advice the design and implementation of process documentation and monitoring and evaluation systems in close coordination and consultation with all partners
- Support the implementation of the capacity building activities in countries of the WANA Region (under the supervision of the REWARD Deputy Coordinator)
- Represent REWARD Partnership in national and regional and global events.
- Other duties as may be assigned from time to time by REWARD Deputy Coordinator.  

Support and sustain the communication activities in ROWA Office
- Lead and coordinate the development, production and dissemination of IUCN ROWA annual report.
- Support IUCN ROWA in managing media relation and press coverage.
- Support in building and managing mailing list of Journalists, members, donors and partners.
- Liaise and coordinate with the IUCN global team and other regional offices to raise the regional environmental issues to the international level.
- Manage and update IUCN ROWA website in accordance with IUCN website guidelines.
- Support the development of the IUCN ROWA communication strategy.
- Support and supervise the design and production of communication materials and publications for the other ROWA programmes.
- Manage the internal communications through providing guidance to the ROWA team on communicating the IUCN messages effectively.  

REQUIREMENTS
An appropriate university education at least to Bachelors’ Degree level in relevant development related fields in communication and media-information and/or natural resource management  
At least eight years of work experience by preference in communication and media-information at the regional, national and local levels, including:
- experience with NGO style awareness and promotion programmes and campaigns
- experience with networking and process documentation activities  
Experience in community participation and stakeholder approaches is an advantage  
Experience and interest in strategic policy formulation and critique is an advantage  
Experience in organizing and facilitating workshops and e-conferences  
Effective verbal and writing communication skills, both in English and Arabic; other language are an asset  
Background in information and communication technology  
Computer literate (MS-Office, Publisher in Arabic and English)  
Capable of ensuring and facilitating the coordination and collaboration of diverse network groups  
Training, facilitation and fund-raising skills are also required
