Overview

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) seeks a Regional Director for its Americas Regional Office.  MSC is the world’s leading certification and eco-labeling program for wild capture fisheries. Through its program, the MSC contributes to reversing decline in global fish stocks by identifying, rewarding and creating marketing incentives for sustainable fisheries.  MSC offers a global, market-based approach to helping solve one of the world’s most pressing sustainable development challenges – ensuring sustainable fisheries and the livelihoods based on those fisheries.

The Americas Regional Director position is an exciting opportunity to lead the MSC’s America’s 10 member team to further build and strengthen the MSC program in the Americas region, with a focus on North America.  The regional director oversees the fisheries, commercial and communications functions of the Americas team.  The director is responsible for effective delivery of MSC programs in the region and ensuring positive relationships and experiences with all the MSC’s existing partners while also creating new partnerships that build supply of and demand for MSC-certified seafood.  The director has overall responsibility for development, implementation, management and evaluation of the team’s efforts in the Americas, working with a wide range of interested parties.

The Regional Director is an integral part of the overall MSC team, a member of the Senior Management Team, and will participate in the collective management and strategic development and actions of the organization in the region and worldwide.

This is a tremendously exciting role with huge potential to make a real difference. It requires poise and maturity, exceptional presentational and communication skills, excellent organizational and management abilities, proven leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple obligations simultaneously.
