Wanted: Reef Restoration Field Assistant – USAID Reef Rescuers project – Cousin/Praslin
A vacancy exists for one energetic individual with a flexible disposition to work on underwater operations related to coral reef restoration around both Cousin and Praslin islands, namely coral collection, nursery construction and filling, macroalgae removal and coral transplantation. You should be prepared to work long hours on a boat to prepare coral fragments for the nurseries and conduct up to two dives a day.
We are looking for people with strong scuba diving experience (minimum PADI Rescue), high physical fitness and ability to work in all weather conditions, previous experience working in conservation projects (coral/fish monitoring and photography are assets), academic credentials in marine science/environment preferred but not compulsory. Applicants must speak English fluently. The post holder will be based on Praslin. Salary of R 6,000/month. Diving and basic health insurance provided.
