The REDD+ Specialist II will provide leadership and support to lay out participatory approaches to promote momentum of REDD+ readiness. S/he will contribute to strengthening institutional and local capacity required to facilitate the implementation of REDD+ demonstration activities, policies and legal frameworks in Central America and the Dominican Republic. S/he will advise and support CCAD and other key institutions in the development and implementation of their REDD+ initiatives, and provide advice to USAID in regional or international discussions of REDD+ issues. S/he will coordinate the execution of climate-related work plan strategies and activities of the Central America Climate Change Project that will support the development of REDD+ through strategies to address the drivers of deforestation and forest degradation in priority landscapes in the Selva Maya, La Mosquitia, and the Darien (as outlined in USAID RFA-596-12-000001). This position will require close coordination with staff from multiple Rainforest Alliance divisions, in particular the Climate and TREES programs, and amongst various project partners, including World Wildlife Fund (Central America & Colombia).
