In North America, and specifically in our San Francisco office, we are looking for a Forestry Sector Leader who continues the successes of DNV in the forestry area with an special focused on supporting project developers and International Development Agencies in their forestry related activities (validation/verification, capacity building, program implementation, etc) with an special focus on the Americas Region and those other countries where those organizations implement activities (Africa, South East Asia). Your responsibilities includes provide technical expertise, project delivery/management and forestry business development/sales in the Americas region within a team of experienced and motivated colleagues in the sustainability and climate change areas. In addition to technical and managerial skills in the forestry sector, experience in validation/verification of such projects is an asset. Self-motivation and the ability to work to ambitious targets will be characteristics of a successful candidate who will also be expected to have significant client exposure and external market profiling.
Responsibilities Include:
· A full portfolio of professional services in support of DNV’s Sustainability & Innovation practice areas. These include: new business development (marketing and proposal development), contract oversight and management, and strong financial management oversight.
· Design and contribute to strategies REDD/REDD+ capacity building efforts to integrate economic growth and governance;
· Contributing to corporate strategic planning and business opportunity development for REDD/REDD+ initiatives including validation/verification, capacity building, and institutional governance efforts and for the wider DNV Sustainability & Innovation group.

Qualifications

· Master Degree in a forestry / natural resources related discipline;
· Demonstrated business development capabilities;
· Minimum 7 years of professional experience with a minimum of 3 years direct working experience in forestry. Strong supervisor and peer recommendations;
· Demonstrated excellence and qualifications in a natural resources field (e.g., forestry, biodiversity conservation, GIS, remote sensing, and/or spatial modeling experience);
· Experience in validation/verification and/or experience in projects with International Development Agencies is an asset.
· Extensive project implementation experience;
· Previous experience managing integrated teams. Experience in expanding and growing an international business. Previous line management experience is an asset.
· Excellent connections in the national and international forestry markets and good understanding of the forestry challenges and opportunities internationally.
· Demonstrated writing ability and previous successful proposal development experience responding to organizations such as the World Bank, IADB, ADB, etc.
· Functional competency in at least one major foreign language is essential (preferred languages include Spanish and French);
· Must be comfortable working in a fast paced and intense work environment that requires local and international travel.
· U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is an absolute requirement.
