  • Ranger, Eastern Area

    • Salary / rate of pay: Starting Salary £21,000 to £24,000 (within a range of £21,000 to £30,000)
    • Location: Stanmer Park, Brighton, with travel throughout the South Downs National Park
    • Job Type: Permanent
    • Hours: 37 hours per week, job sharers will be considered

    The South Downs National Park Authority is a new, exciting organisation that aims to conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the National Park, and to help people to learn about and enjoy its special qualities. We also have an important role to foster the well-being of the local communities that live and work here. 

    The Authority became fully operational on 1 April 2011 and we are looking for talented individuals to take this important work forward. We are committed to creating a modern, flexible organisation that works through partnership and supports local action. 

    We are looking for a self-motivated and organised individual to promote the work of the South Downs National Park Authority whilst establishing effective partnerships and making an effective contribution to team working.

    The post holder will have responsibility for implementing a wide range of Countryside Management activitiesand developing new projects within the area, including landscape, biodiversity, promoting informal countryside recreation and community involvement to achieve the South Downs Management Plan and South Downs National Park Authority’s Business Plan.

    The successful candidate must have detailed knowledge of countryside management, National Parks, be able to plan, organise and deliver countryside management projects and activities. Strong team working, negotiating and interpersonal skills will be essential to work effectively with colleagues & local communities in developing countryside management activities. Candidates must have a relevant degree or HND and previous experience of a range of countryside management issues and operations. In addition, a high level of personal commitment to the job and to your own development and good judgment and initiative will be important personal qualities.
