Mission statement/  business objectives of the function:

 

The Quality Assurance Officer supports the work in the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) in relation to administration, communication, research, monitoring, and procedure development.

 

Main roles and responsibilities:

 

  • Dispute Resolution:
    • Working with the Dispute Resolution Manager to resolve formal complaints about FSC certification worldwide and provide administrative support to the Dispute Resolution System as needed.
    • Addressing public criticism and informal complaints proactively by channelling it through the FSC Dispute Resolution System. Monitor the development and resolution of cases brought to the attention of FSC but managed by third parties. 
    • Supporting communications and the interaction between the Marketing and Communications Unit and the FSC Dispute Resolution System.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E):
    • Working with the M&E Manager to research media publications, scientific studies as well as policy developments:
    • Compiling of relevant findings and trends about the FSC certification system for further impact analysis.
  • General:
    • Providing administrative and logistical support to technical committees and events.
    • Administration and handling of information requests by stakeholders and third parties.
    • Supporting fundraising and reporting to donors.

 

Execution of discretionary power:

The position does not include any signing power.

Key Performance Indicators:

 

  • Adherence to timelines and outputs of assigned tasks.
  • Timely and professional interaction with external parties (members, stakeholders, certificate holders, certification bodies, committees, experts and consultants).
  • High level of customer satisfaction in terms of responsiveness to enquiries.
  • High level of quality in implementing relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

 

Functional attribution to organizational unit:

 

The Quality Assurance Officer reports to:

  • The dispute Resolution Manager or the Monitoring & Evaluation Manager on related issues.
  • Director Quality Assurance on general issues.

 

Cooperation with other operational units:

 

  • Business units and programs of
    • FSC International Center
    • FSC Global Development
  • ASI – Accreditation Services International
  • FSC Regional Offices
  • FSC Network Partners (e.g. National Offices, National Representatives, National Focal Points)

 

Qualification, experience and skills:

 

The successful candidate demonstrates the following key competencies and qualities:

  • Education and Training: University or technical college degree in a relevant field (e.g. quality management, international relations, social sciences, business administration, natural resource management)
  • Working experience:
    • More than 2 years of work experience in one or more of the following areas: dispute resolution, monitoring & evaluation, quality management (quality assurance, quality control), certification (standard development, auditing).
    • Basic project management experience.
    • Experience with stakeholder engagement in complex technical issues is an asset.
  • Languages:
    • Fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
    • French, Russian or Chinese is a plus.
  • Computer skills: Good computer skills, including the use of standard software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access) and database management platforms. Experience with Content Management Systems and websites is a plus.
  • Others:
    • Ability to work well as a member of a multi-cultural, inter-disciplinary, multi-lingual, global team.
    • Commitment to FSC’s mission and values.
    • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diversity of values, views and approaches to issues relevant to the FSC program by stakeholders around the world.
    • Familiarity at the general level with the scope of FSC’s programs of standard setting, accreditation, trademark management and political engagement.
    • Ability to represent FSC through his/her work with exemplary personal and professional authority and conduct.

 

Terms and conditions:

  • Location: Bonn, Germany.
  • Full Time: 40 working hours per week.
  • Temporary contract: 2 years – extension possible.
  • Starting date: As soon as possible.
  • Travel: Sporadic travel is required.
