Description
REC Solar is a solar electric system integrator specializing in the design and installation of residential and commercial solar systems.  Our vision is to make solar electricity a part of the mainstream energy supply. While still being a medium-sized employer, REC Solar is a market leader in the solar electric industry, experiencing growth rates in excess of 75%/year.
The PV System Designer completes designs for solar photovoltaic systems following engineering department policy under the guidance of other members of the engineering department.  
 
Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform engineering site visits, and coordinate other team members to perform engineering site visits;
  • Research local and national code requirements in project jurisdictions;
  • Develop detailed drawings of system components for construction and installation;
  • Draft system plans;
  • Create project bills of material;
  • Coordinate project design reviews;
  • Assist in documenting and developing industry best practices, standards and guidelines;
  • Complete electrical and structural designs for photovoltaic projects;
  • Delegate project completion tasks to other engineering team members;
  • Oversee preparation of documentation for construction teams;
  • Utilize software systems to record progress of various tasks;
  • Demonstrate ethics and professionalism at all times.
 
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in drafting and AutoCAD Software;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Willingness to travel as required;
  • Knowledge of construction techniques;
  • Effective written and oral communications skills;
  • Think critically and able to solve problems;
  • Good judgment and analytical skills;
  • Organizational skills;
  • Customer service skills;
  • Excellent computing skills, including MS applications;
  • Experience with designing and / or constructing solar electric systems preferred;
  • Bachelors degree in an engineering related field preferred
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code preferred;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals;
  • Use standard office equipment such as personal computer, laser printer, copy machine, telephone, calculator, fax machine, etc.
