Description

If you’re a highly organised person who can work at some pace, you’d like to support the fundraising endeavours of a charity dedicated to conserving the world’s endangered species, and share our passion for wildlife, we have an opportunity you might be interested in.

Our online shop sells a great range of ethically sourced merchandise. Christmas is very busy and dispatching orders quickly and efficiently is key to customer satisfaction and fundraising success for our cause.

You’ll need an eye for detail and enthusiasm to get things done quickly and efficiently to make sure our orders sail out of the door smoothly.

Tasks involved:

  • printing and fulfilling orders by selecting products accurately, packaging them quickly and with attention to detail and pride in customer care
  • pricing up for postage, running off labels and labelling correctly
  • physically moving packages to Post Office collection points (close to our office but a driving licence would be a bonus and get more shifted faster using our van)
  • marking orders as fulfilled and sent
  • keeping abreast of stock levels
  • disposing of empty boxes and packaging as goods sell

You’ll work alongside a member of PTES staff and you’ll be given full training on all that’s required. Ideally we are looking for a commitment of 2 full days a week (specific days flexible), or a similar commitment across the week. You’ll need to be within easy reach of our office in Battersea, London. We can contribute up to £15/day towards travel costs.

You’ll need to be able to use a PC competently, review spreadsheets and be able to move packages and stock around safely.

About People’s Trust for Endangered Species

Whether bats or beetles, hedgehogs or hyenas, we stand up for animals and their habitats.  The delicately balanced ecosystem that we all depend on is under threat. Alarmingly, in the UK almost two-thirds of species have declined in the last 50 years. Globally, around a quarter of mammals face extinction in the next three decades. This rate of loss can be stopped and that’s why People’s Trust for Endangered Species exists. For over 40 years we’ve improved the outlook of endangered species in Britain and throughout the world.

Passion drives our work but it’s grounded in science. Our approach is to invest in research and test the best ways to protect endangered species in their natural habitats. Then we put what works into action, creating vibrant wildlife havens.

Our work is varied and extensive, ranging from direct support for conservation professionals to involving the public and volunteers in practical action to help specific species and their habitats. Current priority species are hedgehogs, dormice, water voles and invertebrates and our priority habitats are orchards, woodlands, hedgerows, wood pasture and parkland. As well as carrying out our own work, which focuses particularly on British mammals, we support conservation work throughout the world. Recent projects funded range from protecting areas for snow leopards in Mongolia to protecting slow loris habitat in Indonesia.

We have 22 staff, five trustees and thousands of volunteers helping us. You’ll have the opportunity to meet other staff members in the office.
