Primary Duties:

  • Using subscription and other available sources, works to secure contact information for qualified major donor prospects for The Peregrine Fund.
  • Identifies and Qualifies new major donor prospects
  • Works with Development Team to identify new major donor, foundation and corporate prospects
  • Assists the Development Team in developing new strategies and tactics for fundraising, especially as it relates to database research and evaluation
  • Implements new research techniques as they arise, striving to design the ultimate prospect research methodology
  • May provide general support to development staff and work on special projects when called for

Skill and Expectations

This position provides support to a small Development Team and is focused around major donors as a critical source of revenue for The Peregrine Fund. Skills, duties and expectations include:

1.Produces in-depth, well-written reports on prospects based on a combination of data from the donor database, available financial records, real estate ownership, and other markers of high quality donors.

2.This position plays a crucial role in the fundraising process by providing actionable, value-added intelligence and recommendations regarding TPF’s constituents’ wealth and philanthropic history in addition to prospecting for new major donors.

3.The position plays a key role in inputting and maintaining donor and prospect data in TPF’s CRM database (Raiser’s Edge by Blackbaud).

Qualities and Qualifications Desired:

  • Significant intellectual curiosity, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • Strong research skills, especially using a variety of subscription and freely available online resources. A solid understanding of basic mathematics, business, economics, and finance (and/or the demonstrated ability to learn necessary skills in these areas).
  • A solid understanding of wealth indicators.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and working with spreadsheets, charts, graphs, presentation software, and complex narrative documents.
  • An ability to work individually and as part of a team as well as be responsive to the requests of the VP for Partnerships (Director of Development).
  • Previous market research or comparable experience. Strong knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • An active interest in and commitment to the conservation of biodiversity is strongly preferred.

Salary: This is a half-time or full time position depending upon candidate selected for the position.
