NEPCon is a mission-driven organization working to ensure responsible use of natural resources worldwide. Our core activity areas are certification, capacity building and environmental projects in forestry, wood processing and agricultural sectors. NEPCon has nearly 100 staff, located around Europe, Russia, U.S., Australia and Asia, and operates through 12 legal entities.

NEPCon has engaged in sustainability services for more than 20 years, working with well-recognised certification schemes such as FSC and PEFC. We have also developed our own schemes for carbon footprint management certification and LegalSource certification of due diligence in legal timber sourcing. In addition, NEPCon engages in international development projects that help to achieve our mission. Our projects work to help develop sustainability standards, conduct related research, develop knowledge in related fields, and build capacity among stakeholders.

NEPCon is currently seeking a Projects Finance and Systems Expert to implement financial management related to donor-funded projects, including budgeting, monitoring, analysis, and financial reporting. In addition, using this hands-on financial management experience, we would also like this expert to then help develop smart, innovative IT systems tools to better implement over financial management and monitoring across the organization, including integration with SalesForce.

Primary Responsibilities

-         Develop and maintain IT systems and tools to monitor all financial information related to NEPCon’s projects and services, including thinking innovatively about how to integrate these tools into SalesForce to enhance the daily work of NEPCon staff.

-         Overall responsible for financial monitoring of all donor-funded projects, including interim monitoring to ensure that projects are progressing according to budget, coordination of payment of all project-related expenses (including vendors and consultants), and ongoing cash-flow analysis of each project according to donor payment schedules.

-         Overall responsible for all financial reporting related to projects. This includes both internal reporting according to NEPCon financial processes, as well as external reporting as required by donors.

-         Helping the Fundraising Team in the development of budgets related to new projects, and ensuring that they are consistent with overall organizational financial policies.

-         Work closely with the Financial Manager in the annual budgeting and audit processes.

-         Develop templates as necessary for use in general financial monitoring and reporting.

-         As an integral part of the Financial Team, the Project Finance Expert will be expected to provide, as well as receive, back and support to others in the department in order to achieve critical deadlines, help provide coverage when other team members are on holiday, etc.

Requirements

-         2+ years experience in financial operations, including budgeting, monitoring and reporting.

-         Experience in development of financial systems, including ways of integrating monitoring and reporting across several departments and office locations, and finding ways of increasing efficiency and effectiveness of financial monitoring and reporting.

-         Experience in project-based financial management, including following a project through from initial budget develop to final reporting, and integrating project financial information into the overall organization-wide financial budgets and processes.

-         Uniiversity degree, preferably in accounting, finance, IT system development or related fields.

-         Excellent written and spoken communications skills in English. Additional written and spoken communication skills in other languages (especially Danish, French and/or Spanish) would be an added benefit.

-         Experience with SalesForce would be an added benefit.

-         Experience in financial reporting according to requirements of international donors such as EU Commission and international development agencies, would be an added benefit.
