Description

The Ecology Consultancy is seeking a Project Officer to work on large scale infrastructure projects. We are looking for someone with an interest in ecology to assist with scheduling, subcontractor management, and coordination of field surveys, management of data and the day to day running of the project. The Project Officer will support an established team of Ecologists and the 2019 survey programmes.

We are looking for a fast learning, well organised individual with good attention to detail and strong client communication skills. The successful candidate must be able to work under pressure, prioritise and manage their own workload. The Project Officer is integral to the smooth running of our survey programmes throughout the summer. Tasks a successful candidate can be expected to be involved in include;

  • Leading
    • Working with Project Administrator team and coordinating administration tasks across major projects
  • Survey scheduling
    • Planning ecological surveys, considering resource requirements and seasonality constraints
    • Supporting project manager with programme and progress updates
    • Attending client meetings with project manager
  • Health & Safety
    • Producing H&S plans and risk assessments
    • Coordinating incident reporting process
    • Managing PPE and equipment
  • Logistics and coordination
    • Coordinating surveyor schedules
    • Managing accommodation and transport bookings
  • Subcontractor and project finance
    • Arranging subcontractor onboarding
    • Raising purchase orders;
    • Managing subcontractor timesheets;
    • Processing supplier invoices;

Essential skills and aptitudes

  • Graduate with a degree in scientific subject (preferably environment related)
  • Previous work experience in a project-based role
  • Previous experience of client facing work
  • Highly organised with strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Quick to learn, thorough and friendly with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, in particular Excel

NB. This is an office-based position. The successful candidate will not be required to undertake field work
