Earthworm Foundation is seeking a motivated Project Officer (Ocean), based in Lille, France, with experience in topics around seafood, excellent communication and writing skills, passionate about working with multi-stakeholders to generate value and interested in a career with a dynamic non-profit that builds relationships with companies, governments and civil society organizations to bring responsible products to market.

The Project Officer is is keen to support the dynamic around the challenges linked to oceans overexploitation and aquaculture. He/She participates into driving innovation by working collaboratively with retailers and their supply chains partners to understand their business, to improve their collaboration and to create value and promote resilience to fluctuations in climate and markets.

The Project Officer will work in a team, in close collaboration with the Ocean Program Coordinator. He/She will be supporting several Member Managers with Ocean projects. He/She will also dedicate part of his/her time on palm-oil related topics and soy-related topics.

Responsibilities

In direct contact with the Member Managers, the position will initially include the following responsibilities:

  • Operational support of Members Managers for business partnerships: working on fish sourcing advises, implementing monitoring of fish sourcing policies;
  • Scientific / technical studies and syntheses (FR/EN);
  • Data management;
  • Supply chain mapping;
  • Grievances analysis;
  • Weekly Ocean newsletter, aggregating latest relevant news.

Requirements – Candidate Profile Minimum Qualifications

  • Fishery engineer or agronomy engineer;
  • Minimum of 2-3 years relevant business or non-profit experience, ideally in the seafood industry, or in the agronomy industry;
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple interrelated tasks;
  • Good understanding of the challenges of actors in the agro-food sectors: producers, manufacturers, retailers.

Language skills:

  • Fluency in French & English (written, spoken);
  • Fluency in Spanish (written, spoken) would be appreciated.

Working conditions / Physical effort:
