Description

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is seeking a hard working and dedicated individual with skill-sets in data management and customer service, ideally with knowledge of GHG accounting and the business implications of climate change, to support CDP’s disclosure team in North America. The position is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate, or an individual looking to develop a career in climate change, to contribute significantly to the vital work of CDP in improving corporate reporting on climate change and water.

The Project Officer (PO) will be based in CDP’s New York office and will report to the Project Manager, CDP-NA. The PO will be responsible for carrying out critical activities to support the CDP disclosure team and disclosing companies. The key areas of responsibility include responding to incoming company queries, online data management and testing of CDP’s IT systems;

The PO will work within the CDP support team, and closely with the North America Project Manager and Senior Project Officer, on all disclosure related initiatives to ensure they are coordinated with broader CDP activities in the USA and around the world. There are also opportunities to work on other projects on a case-by-case basis.

Attention to detail, efficiency and the highest-level of organization are fundamental to this role, as is the ability to manage high volumes of incoming enquiries for sustained periods of time while maintaining upkeep of online databases.

Main responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responding to incoming enquiries from companies related to the CDP questionnaires
  • Assisting with other forms of support for disclosing companies e.g. workshops and webinars
  • Database management
  • Assisting in testing CDP’s IT systems
  • Administrative support for the Project Manager
  • Administrative support on event organization and production
  • Direct engagement with companies during the key disclosure months to secure maximum participation

Requirements

  • A university degree in a related subject or two years relevant work experience
  • A passion for the environment and a desire to work proactively to combat climate change and water issues
  • An understanding of corporate sustainability
  • General IT (particularly Excel) and database fluency
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A professional telephone manner
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • A desire to learn

The successful candidate will work 5 days per week and must be able to work legally in the US.
