Description

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Europe is seeking a highly motivated and well-networked self-starter to support the regional office of the world’s leading climate change charity. This role includes support for CDP’s work in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, with a primary focus on France.

Main responsibilities

  • Growing the Carbon Disclosure Project’s influence and effectiveness in the France and Benelux regions
  • Supporting the establishment of the CDP France and Benelux operations by:
    • Providing client services and follow-up to current CDP partners, local agents, and sponsors.
    • Participating in the development of new partnerships with government agencies, accounting bodies, data providers, exchanges, leading investors, corporations, foundations and academic institutes
    • Working closely with CDP signatories to improve the quality of data reported, in collaboration with headquarters
    • Seeking opportunities to drive carbon accounting and management high up the corporate agenda and increase the level of carbon disclosure in the region through dialogue with CDP partners, events, outreach
    • Engaging with France and Benelux companies invited to respond to CDP information requests
    • Supporting the organisation of events and workshops including the engagement of high level speakers
    • Providing research and analysis for projects in collaboration with France and Benelux government Ministries to improve disclosure by corporations and action on disclosure by investors
    • Assisting the Project Manager, CDP Europe with the CDP regional report and scoring processes
    • Proactive engagement with peer NGOs and other relevant stakeholders

Requirements

  • A clear understanding of CDP’s aims, objectives and processes
  • A desire to drive forward CDP’s mission
  • At least 3 years experience in either the investor, corporate, government or non-profit sectors
  • Sound understanding of global policy action on climate change and how the France and Benelux regions fit in with the current efforts towards a global agreement
  • Excellent awareness and knowledge of business and investor perspectives on climate change reporting
  • Good public speaking skills and ability to interact with high level representatives from the private and public sectors
  • A self-starter with ability to take initiative, multi-task, prioritise and work under pressure
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with good research, writing and drafting skills
  • Strong team player, able to demonstrate a client service orientation and interpersonal skills in a multicultural setting
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with CRM systems
  • Experience organising and facilitating high level events
  • Fluency in French and English is required. Dutch would be a plus.

The successful candidate will report to the Project Manager, CDP Europe and work closely with the European team. It is expected that there will be some travel in the region and the candidate must be able to work from home.

This is a full time position until June 2013, with the intention of extension. Candidates should have EU work permit.
