The BC3-Basque Centre for Climate Change is a Research Centre based in Bilbao which aims to contribute to long term research on the causes and consequences of climate change in order to foster the creation of knowledge in this multidisciplinary science. This center is part of the network of BERCs - Basque Excellence Research Centers supported by the Basque Government.

BC3 seeks to be a world-class climate change research center aimed at informing decision-making at the Basque, Spanish, and International level by integrating natural and social sciences to address the socio-economic implications of global climate change.

This synergy is realized through our research on low carbon transitions, natural environment and ecosystem services, health, economics and climate policy.

The candidate will work closely with the Operations Manager and the Scientific Director and will assist researchers in preparing new projects including, identifying potential sources of funding and negotiating deals with sponsoring institutions (private or public).  The candidate will manage and monitor all the local, national and international projects or research contract/agreement ensuring the project fulfillment and will administer any research/training or dissemination proposal.

Functions of the Project Officer:

• Management and coordination of local, national and international projects, contracts and/or partnerships.
• Support in the recruitment of research sponsors and new partnersPotential sources of funding identification and proposal elaboration.
• Administration (Personnel allocation, Trips/Dissemination activities/ research resources needs allocation) and monitoring of local, national and international projects.
• Proposals/projects/subsidies control through BC3’s ERP.
• Monthly Project Report elaboration for Operation Manager (financial and activity reports).
• Proposal Monitoring and Report for Operation ManagerRequired Skills and Competences.

Experience/skills required:

• Bachelor or Engineering degree(obligatory).
• MSc or PhD (desirable).
• Solid financial planning and budgeting skills.
• Experience in Research Programmes at Research Centres.
• Project Management and Coordination.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Relationship Management skills.
• Resource planning skills.
• Fluent English/Spanish/Basque.
