Project Officer – GMES Data and Communication Support, Contract Agent

Job description:

Under the responsibility of the Head of the SEIS and GMES Group, reporting to the Head of SES Support Programme, the Project Officers shall be responsible for analysing data requirements and managing meta-information on data sources for GMES, in particular for in-situ data.

The position will entail the following tasks:

• Clarify the requirements of GMES services for in-situ data, information and networking;
• Provide support to establish and maintain a consistent catalogue of in-situ requirements and data needs (service-specific and general);
• Analyse data requirements in terms of specific spatial, temporal resolution, coverage, quality and multiple use and identify obstacles;
• Contribute to the design of approaches to resolve technical and data policy issues;
• Support implementation of quick-wins and establishment of initial frameworks to ensure that technical issues are handled and frameworks demonstrate the overall approach to in-situ for GMES services;
• Support cross-cutting and external communication including also dialogue with networks and stakeholders;
• Provide outputs with communication focus, such as dissemination of materials and preparation for negotiation processes;

• Contribute to overall project objectives.
