IUCN’s Climate Change Team is part of the Centre for Finance and Economy. This Centre focuses on building the case and establishing credible pathways to demonstrate and implement changes in financial systems to mobilise and direct the resources required to achieve global targets on biodiversity and climate change. The Global Fund for Ecosystem-based Adaptation (Global EbA Fund), implemented by IUCN and UNEP with funding from the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), is a quickly deployable mechanism for supporting innovative approaches to Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA). By supporting catalytic initiatives, the Fund seeks to overcome barriers to upscaling EbA, address knowledge gaps, pilot innovative EbA approaches, engage in strategic EbA policy mainstreaming, and incentivise innovative finance mechanisms and private sector EbA investment.

Project Officer - Global EbA Fund Technical Coordination & Implementation

You will support the Programme Manager, Ecosystem based Adaptation (EbA), in tasks related to the implementation of the Global EbA Fund. Working in close collaboration with the Global EbA Fund Secretariat team as well as project partners, you will support the day-to-day management of grantees to ensure the effective implementation of grants. You will be further responsible for coordination and knowledge management across the grantee portfolio, including collection, evaluation, and synthesis of project reports from grantees. You will also be responsible for the coordination of knowledge sharing, lessons learned and documentation of project experiences across the Global EbA Fund portfolio.

Your Responsibilities


• You will be responsible for coordination of successful grantees of the Global EbA Fund;

• Provide and facilitate technical assistance to grantees for effective EbA grants implementation as and when required;

• Collection and consolidation of grantee project reports to provide input and support to the Global EbA Fund technical semi-annual and annual donor reports and internal IUCN programme reporting;

• Coordinate production of bi-annual newsletter of project highlights from grantees;

• Extract information across grantee projects into broader Fund communications and coordination.

• Support the development of an e-learning course on EbA to support successful grantees;

• Design approaches, methods and activities to implement the Global EbA Fund capacity building strategy such as: workshops, webinars, and individual mentoring;

• Facilitate knowledge exchanges on lessons learned on EbA to support grantees in effective implementation of projects;

• Provide technical input into the development of EbA knowledge products including technical/position papers, especially based on experiences and learning from grants implementation processes;

• Carry out any other relevant task as assigned by, and agreed with, the line manager.
