FEDARENE – European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment – is the premier European network of regional and local organisations, which implement, coordinate and facilitate sustainable energy and environment policies. Regional and local agencies, ministries and departments working in these fields are represented in FEDARENE. We offer a position with responsibility and focus on EU project activities within a well-established European association (29 years), representing members from 23 European countries and active in one of the most strategic areas of current European politics.
EU City Facility FEDARENE is an active member of the consortium running the EU City Facility together with European local authorities’ networks. The EU City Facility will provide up to € 60,000 of grants to public authorities. This lump sum should be used to develop an investment concept and can be spent on internal staff or to hire external expertise. The Investment Concept will outline a potential projects pipeline with critical investment scale and will define a sound financial strategy and process to launch investments considering different financing options. There will be several calls for funding starting from Spring 2020.
Job description The project officer will implement EU project activities in several European projects in which FEDARENE is involved as a project partner of which the EU City Facility initiative.
Tasks include (but are not limited to):
- Administrative and financial management, reporting & monitoring, communication with project partners
- Coordinate the completion of deliverables of the project team for efficient and on-time delivery, as well as organising and holding regular meetings
- Develop guidance materials, best practices reports
- Organise peer to peer capacity building activities or study tours for public authorities/energy agencies
- Organise & facilitate capacity building workshops, webinars, conferences
- Implement the communication strategy, promote and disseminate project results
Events organisation: the project officer will be expected to lead on the organisation of webinars and capacity building workshops. In addition, s/he will participate in the promotion of these EU projects at relevant events.
Employee Profile Required skills:
- Ability to deeply understand complex technical issues and to translate them for a broader public understanding,
- Strong communication and analytical skills in written, small-group, training, and public-speaking formats,
- Ability to work with a high level of initiative and autonomy when required and to prioritise tasks,
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment,
- organisational skills,
- Fluency in spoken and written English, C1 minimum,
- Other EU languages would be an asset.
Preferred education & experience:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. environment / energy / climate change / urban planning),
- Experience in supporting local and/or regional authorities in their energy/climate transition,
- Experience and expertise in project/programme development, preferably in an EU context,
- Customer service experience would also be valued,
- Experience in financial reporting for EU projects.
