Project MedFish OfficerIntroductionThe Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) works to safeguard the world’s seafood supply by promoting the best environmental choice in seafood through the use of its logo. We celebrate, promote and add value to sustainable fisheries. Through the leadership of our partners, we help create market incentives to encourage other fisheries to improve the way they fish the oceans. Over 300 fisheries around the world, landing 12 % of the annual global harvest, are now engaged at some stage of the MSC’s independent assessment process. MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in around 100 countries. Information on the roleThe Marine Stewardship Council and its partners have developed the MedFish Project to support and encourage French and Spanish Mediterranean fisheries to improve their practice toward sustainability. Responsible to the MSC’s Country Manager, France supervised by the MSC French and Spanish fisheries officers, your role will be to implement and coordinate delivery of the MedFish project. The main objectives are to engage with French and Spanish actively stakeholders to involve them in the project, to raise awareness about the MSC program in the Mediterranean and to develop the MSC concept in the associated markets. You will work in close collaboration with the MSC French, Spanish and European teams, with the project partners and with associated stakeholders to successfully complete the MedFish project. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivery of the MSC’s mission. Skills and ExperiencePost-graduate degree in fisheries sciences, marine conservation, fisheries management or environmental management.
